Getting Frazed, Drilled Stummels?

I heard from a friend that's owned a pipe shop in the past that a fellow he knew (who has passed on) used to finish pipes out of frazed, pre-drilled blocks that he was able to get wholesale.

Has anyone heard of such a thing or know a source?

I'm just curious.

Yes, a few other American pipemakers do this. Sources will be hard to pry out of them. It's not really worth it, though, unless you plan on doing it very well and with a pretty consistent production.
