All set for the NY Pipe Show

Post by jeff »

Hey guys,

I've been so busy in the shop recently that I've not been spending much time here besides as a lurker. I thought I'd give you all a peek at what I'll be taking to Newark tomorrow morning.

Image
The first virgin stained blast that I've been able to do. The bakelite & ivory turned out pretty well, too, I believe.

Image
The first Calabash shape that I've ever attempted, probably not the last!

Image
One photo shows nothing about this one. :) It's got quite a lot of motion to it and the grain is outstanding.

Image
3.31oz, 6 1/2" long. Enough said.

Image
Little Lovat

Image
Sweet little prince. Damn fine grain too! :)

Image
Strange Fish v2.0

Image
The Spade

Image
This photo does not show the motion in the pipe. It's quite assymetrical.

Image
Another interesting shape with a ton of motion. Hardly a hint of symmetry in this pipe.

Thanks for looking and I hope to see some of you at the show!

Best,

Jeff

That's black palm. It's an exceptional piece of black palm at that. A friend gave me a little chunk and I'm almost out! :)

Ok, disregard my previous post, apparently the pics are getting stripped by our firewall.

Beautiful pipes Jeff! I predict you will be leaving the show with a nice handful of spending cabbage.

Awesome work!

Wow, awesome pipes Jeff! They all look great. How did you do at the show?

I REALY like "Strange Fish", and the black palm in there is exsqusit! Is that little junk blasted? If not, what is the treatment? It sure has a lot of nice texture and color in it!

The show went pretty well for me, thanks for asking. A few were reserved the night before the show and those all sold rapidly, of course. I've got a few left over for the website and they might be with me at Chicago as well.

As for the black palm, no it's not blasted (that's what you were asking about, right?) It's actually quite smooth and has been stabilized with CA glue. Thought, I would caution anyone who is thinking about working with it, that it is difficult to turn because it tends to tear out quite easily.

Thanks for the kind words, all! :)
