New Shape I'm Exploring

Post by RadDavis »

Hi Guys,

Ive put some pics of a new shape I'm playing with in the Gallery:

http://www.pipemakersforum.com/modules. ... _album.php

This is the second iteration of the shape that I have done. The first is on my site: http://raddavispipes.com/pipes.htm

It's FH0578.

The shape was inspired by a commissioned order of a Cornelius Manz (Maenz?) shape that I did last month.

Please let me know what you think!

Nice shape Rad!

Really shows off the grain and birdseye. I like the flow of the pipe and how the bowl sits in closer to the shank, with the excess wood behind to create that very cool flat front face of the pipe. Very nice.

Good looking, Rad.
( The pipe, not you. )
The face is perfect for showing off birdseye isn't it?
The shank and stem look Peter Heeschen to me-
And that's a good thing. Half saddle bits are hard to make to look graceful.
My compilments.

Best,
Steve

Very cool Rad. I like the face, but the sharp edges seem a little too inorganic to me. Edges that are a little softer might be somthing to try.

I agree with Steve, the pipe has a very Heeschen-esque feel to it.

I like them both Rad--Congrats on them! Your shapes always do a great job of showing off the birdseye.
