There was such skill and pride back then. The lines are amazing. The execution is flawless.
Completely serious: I don't think there are but a handful of top-level guys in the world who could duplicate it, given all the time they wanted/needed. The kicker? It was a mass production item at the time. (as much as any large pipe, anyway)

All the cool kids are coming back, Tyler! At least the ones that have realized social media has proven to be unhealthy for them and/or are concerned about it's less than responsible influence 
And I agree with George (well, not so much on the opening of this thread) but in regards to this being the best resource for pipe makers on the internet. The archives here are still the richest source of information on pipemaking, and in it's heyday, this was the closest thing to a virtual apprenticeship for pipemakers are you're ever going to find.
