I say these on Vermont Freehand. My Peterson XL 315 Oom Pah and my IMP meer both have these types of bands on them.
Are they reinforcing bands?

These are made by an Italian company, and this is how they designate their shapes, I think.

Are they used to reinforce a shank to take a stem? I'm thinking that to make a cutty one would need something like this or else a military mount.
