It is always a joy to watch your videos George. Even if I dont do repairs I learn a new trick or two every time that can be used in pipemaking or other tinkering in the workshop. Thank you for making them and for sharing your knowledge!

One question about shank taper:
In the video you talked about the barrel of the saddle having a slight outward flare.
Do you think this same applies to a looooong shanked lovat, or similar? Or would the taper from bowl down the shank
continue through the barrel (assuming saddle stem) and then the blade starts to flare at the point of radius?

Different for a square shank vs. a round shank?

I guess looking at this picture, the barrel begins to flare a bit? Bad example?
