Silver Tenon

I’m playing around with the idea of using silver instead of stainless steel for tenons. I expect a couple of things:
1. Silver isn’t as rigid as stainless, so I will have to properly heat treat the silver prior to use.
2. Here’s my main question. Is there any reason not to use silver in contact with the smoke? In theory, silver is a germophobic element, so I would expect it to remain clean. On the other hand, it does tarnish over time.
Thanks!
