long sanding belts

Post by JHowell »

One of my projects for the summer is to build a long belt sander. The longest commonly available belts seem to be 2X72, but the belts that I see in the Danish workshops seem to be quite a bit longer, and I remember Todd referring to his 1X100 sander. Where does one find such belts?

as from what I've seen in some ebay auctions (at least here in GER), suppliers of these belts can also make them taylored to the length you need.

Yes, those belts are custom made, like band saw blades. You can specify the lenght. Perhaps someone on the forum can give you the Danish suppliers name.

Funny, I'm having poor luck locating a specific source. Has anyone bought such belts recently?

You could try and email Brad Pohlmann (www.pohlmannpipes.com). He uses a long one, not sure how long tho. He posted a pic of it on here but I just did a search and couldn't find it...
