Where I'm at, I know of two places lIke this, but I hear there's a few more. They mostly deal with pine that is imported from New Zealand. That piece were cutting today was for my friend's new bar. He told me one 10 meter section of the tree is around 500 USD. Some of the other places import some more exotic woods, but I haven't found those places yet.

Does pine make good bowls? I was thinking somewhere down the line I'll try getting into making some furniture. When I do, I'll probably just have these guys process a log for me.

No kidding! That thing was scaring. Everytime they'd turn it on the dogs would go running and hide! The lady pushing the car would sometimes be standing a foot away from it while they readjusted the log. I found myself getting nervous a lot when they'd get close to it.

like how they did the tracks in the concrete. i have a 1/10th scale version of that with a circular blade for slabbing up trees into awesome lumber, but thinking about making a real rolling carriage for longer and heavier logs. great to see a real grass roots operation its an inspiration thanks for the photos.

btw don't make a pine bowl i would wait until they're slabbing up type of jungle hardwood. new zealand pine can be found around here dyed with hardner in it to look like faux hardwoods for cabinets actually have some in my shop in a few colors.

Kinda :) There is also quite a bit of arguing involved in the process too. You almost have to be able to get angry with them to get what you want, but in the end everyone is happy.

I lived in Spain for a few years. While there I built a couple of motorcycles. In order to get what you wanted you actually had to convince someone that's what you wanted. Loved the process and made some great friends as a result.
