How you got into pipe making:
A good friend of mine with a rather large collection of pipes got me into smoking. After smoking some of his pipes and becoming attached to a particular Nording pipe he had, I decided to buy my own. I searched for a while, and never was able to find the exact shape I liked. As I enjoy woodworking, and the craftsmanship and creativity that go into the process, I decided to buy my own pre-bored kit and try my hand at pipe making.
Other interesting facts:
Pipe making has become a relaxing hobby for me, as my full time job can become mentally taxing. During the day, I work 12 hour shifts with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing direct support to them for all of their daily needs from the time they wake up until they go to sleep. When I have a break from work and can get into the shop, I feel my mind clear, tensions ease, and my creativity begins to flow. I turn on some music, and find myself in a relaxing spot amidst the dust and sandpaper. I also enjoy collecting vinyl records. Mostly 60's-70's Rock, with a little bit of Soul and Sinatra.
