Pipe # 2 Billiard

Post by Zeppo- »

Howdy folks,

Pipe #2

-Billiard
-Italian mystery briar
-Contrast staining with Fiebing's Mahogany & Tan alcohol dye
-Pre-mold stem.

What you can't see in the photos: The air hole is at the right depth and centred

What you probably can't see in the photos: The stem was not as thoroughly sanded as it should have been.

I've posted the photos in a link because I was getting a: "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached" message.

Thanks

The stem should be tapered without a concave curve from the shank face to behind the button. The concave curve doesn't work.

The shape of the bowl is not a billiard, but a dublin, since the base of the bowl is thinner than the rim.

The fit and finish look decent, so work on the shaping next, especially of the stem.

Your bowl is widest at the rim. A billiard tapers ever so slightly from about 2/3 down the bowl to the rim so that the bowl is widest 2/3 down. Look at the difference in these two images.
