Re: Chheda Pipe #200 Melting Bulb
The biggy that I see is actually quite miniscule. On the backside of the bowl towards the middle-top, the curve doesn't seem to flow quite right with the line on the face of the bowl. Take a look at the last picture and see if you see it. It's tiny.
I'm glad to hear Uncle Bill got this pipe- he deserves it!

Ryan, I think Premal has been hanging out with you too much. Here I was thinking I was going to get in on the .5 points. I suppose it's nice of Premal to be concerned with my nutrition, though.

Gotta keep fit for cutting wood. And yes, I have been influenced by Ryan a bit. It's all good, he's from Texas.mredmond wrote:Ryan, I think Premal has been hanging out with you too much. Re: Chheda Pipe #200 Melting Bulb
A dik-dik is a small antelope in the genus Madoqua that lives in the bushlands of eastern and southern Africa. Dik-diks stand about 30–40 cm (12–16 in) at the shoulder, are 50–70 cm (20–28 in) long, weigh 3–6 kg (7–16 lb)
Seriously, 7 pounds fully grown, can't be more than 2 lbs of meat on them. If you're talking baby Dik Diks, sure, he probably could eat a bag of them.

"Honey, have you seen the bag of baby diks we bought yesterday?" "Yes, you finished the bag last night while watching toddlers and tiaras"
Re: Chheda Pipe #200 Melting Bulb
That turned out really nice, Premal. The only thing I can see is that the line on the top of the shank bows a little as it approaches the bowl. It's minute though. In the profile shot it looks like the cheeks are drawn in a touch too far but I don't see it in any other shot so it may just be the photo. I don't recall that being the case when I held it in my hands before you finished it.
Re: Chheda Pipe #200 Melting Bulb
I mean...
So this is probably the photography playing tricks, but the reflection along the bottom of the pipe seems to indicate that the lower line of the pipe isn't perfectly straight. It sort of wobbles north at the shank/bowl transition.
Only other thing I spot is a small flaw on the bottom of the shank next to your stamping.
Oh, and that spec of dust on the stem.

Re: Chheda Pipe #200 Melting Bulb
Top of stem, in saddle area. Scratch not sanded out? Or trip residue? I'm sure there's something.
Btw, love the radii of the saddle, the thin ebonite rings both side of the inlay. But best of all, the quirky shape and colour!

I didn't include the bow in the original 3, but yes it does a little. + .5 Waynewdteipen wrote:That turned out really nice, Premal. That is just dust or foreign object at time of picture.Charl wrote:Top of stem, in saddle area. Scratch not sanded out? Or trip residue? I'm sure there's something.

Bottom is straight. No wobbles.d.huber wrote:I mean...

Flaw is called a sand pit. The only visible one on the pipe. That is why I used a medium/dark color. It is solid.

You forgot to drill the airway?
Re: Chheda Pipe #200 Melting Bulb
Are the sides of the stem too thin/sharp at the bit?
