I recently saw a pipe that had very Danish line, a Danish style shank cap and stem, and a wide dished rim. It was jarring and ruined the pipe, IMO.

Do you think that said pipe would've looked better with a narrower convex rim? He asked having no idea which pipe Tyler was referring to.

Hypothetically speaking, yes.

And honestly, on a very thin rim, a very steep "dish" works well too. I'm talking a 1/8" rim, say on an egg, and the "dish" is essentially a chamfer at 45* or so.

Back to the thread title: I think Ernie has a crush on Jeff.

I'll confess this, since it's purported to be good for the soul, and it won't go any further than you all, and the internet... I want to be Jeff when I grow up! Not so much for Ernie's affection, although Ernie is a great guy and all. Jeff's work is amazing! I also resonate with the whole coffee, foodie, beer drinking vibe, and used to surf. And surprisingly, Jeff appears to have blended these indulgences with a successful family life...

One morning several years ago, when I made an attempt at latte art with my home roasted coffee, then took that out to the shop to work on a abomination of a blowfish I had on the bench, I realized that it appeared I wanted to be just like Jeff when I grow up... The problem is I'm pushing twice his age and going to run out of time

Ernie definitely has a crush on Jeff. Sas is jealous.

All of the above statements are true. What Jeff and I have is beautiful.

Seriously though, I think Jeff is a world-class maker. In my opinion he's probably in the top 10. This is largely subjective and based on style and preference. He uses a lot of really nice lines, and his stem work is excellent.

If this freight train to chaos ever slows down I'll post some pipes by other makers that I have man-crushes on. Over time, I'll parade all of my bromances out for you to see.

Whaaaat?! Go sharpen your axe, clean your rifles, pour yourself a Scotch and maybe 'rassle a cow to the ground. They're good looking, but "ballet" and "feminine" aren't words a manly man (a man from TEXAS!) is allowed to use to describe Danish pipes. Five yard penalty on that one.
