"Scottie" Stacked Billiard

Post by scotties22 »

This one is a little heavier than I intended it to be. I will slim the next one down. I have been shooting for around 20 grams with these little pipes, or at least not heavier than 22 grams. I got a little carried away and didn't realize just how heavy it is until right before I blasted it.

And don't I wish I would have made this Billiard bowl for the contest :banghead:

Comments and critiques welcome.

Length: 5.97"
Width: 1.22"
Height: 1.94"
Chamber: .556 x 1.80"
Weight: 26g

If the proportions are good why worry so much about the weight? I think this one looks just right. If you slim down the bowl more I think you'd end up with an inferior smoking instrument. That's just my two cents though.

Oh, and flaws like this one would be better off stained darker. Doesn't have to be real dark colors but just not natural or yellow or tan.

You're right Wayne. I am hung up on the weight. And maybe that's not such a good thing. I have another one in the works that is a touch lighter. Once I get it finished I'll post some pics.

is that called a reverse tenon? assuming its because the shank is very thin? i like the tall bowl reminds me of pipe dan "each bowl is high... thus longer smoking!" http://www.danishpipemakers.com/pdf/pibedan_61_62.pdf

It is a reverse tenon and the tubing runs the length of the shank.

What an awesome little read...thanks for the link! I love old catalogues like that.
