Does anyone still make Tyrolean pipes?

Post by Snorri »

Hello all,

So as I'm progressing in my pipe making journey I have become increasingly interested in what are commonly known as 'Tyrolean' style pipes. I love the hunting motifs, the wind-caps, the shanks made of antler or bone, etc. I have collected a few of them over the years, and while they can make decent smokers, there is usually a lot of work to be done cleaning them out, sweetening them, etc, before they are usable. It got me wondering, does anyone still make this style of pipe today? Surely there must be one or two lone artists out there making new production Germanic style pipes, right?

I'm considering trying to create a few myself, so if anyone knows of someone who makes them, or has any personal experience making wind-cap pipes, Tyrolean pipes, etc, I'd love to hear about it.
