Northeastern meet-up / pig roast (Vermont) 8/17/14

Post by Vermont Freehand »

I'm going to host a northeatstern meet-up in conjunction with my summer pig roast.

Sunday, August 17th, all day until 11:00pm

All ages, family friendly (until about 9:45)

Pig roast / bbq

Bluegrass music all day and night, stage will be setup, there will be the basic PA, mics, etc., but feel free to bring an instrument and jump in.

Fireworks at 9:30

We'll supply the pig, hot dogs, hamburgers, veggies, salads, and a keg of beer. There will be about 100 cans of Heady Topper, but that won't last long.

We are asking for volunteers to bring side dishes and more drinks. Drop a message if you would like to bring something.

Plenty of camping area, but campers must be relatively quiet by 11:00pm.

There will be a few people coming from the Albany NY area, so if anyone who is flying in needs a ride from Albany airport, just ask.

PLEASE, NO DOGS

If interested in coming, private message me for directions.

I imagine a sasquatch would deep fry and eat those things by the bag, like bacon-flavored popcorn.

Folks, I've been up to Steve's place. Frankly, it's not to be missed - and it's not just the place; Do yourself a favor and meet Steve, enjoy Vermont, and eat a pig. If I wasn't out of town that weekend I'd be there without hesitation, and I may change my plans just to get there!

It sounds like fun and I want to go but I dunno secluded private estate and all. It seems like the schedule between 9:30 to 9:45 just after the fireworks is when they explain "the rules of the hunt" and 11 or so is when they expect to be done stocking up on meat for next year.

Wish I could go Steve but that's a long way to go right now to indulge my love for roast pig. My docs have me on a short leash right now. Thank you so much though.

Just after the "fireworks", indeed.

The pig roast was a huge success though only a handful of pipe makers. Hopefully next year we can step it up and designate a solid day after or before the party for just pipe making. Here's some photo albums and videos to hold you over til next year;
