Actually, I'm quite certain that I would. :D

One of my best friends for years was born and raised in Nottingham, and lived there until he was 30. Then he met an American girl who was doing some teaching exchange work in England, and they married and moved to the US. He and I talked for hours about what it was like, and a visit has been on my bucket list ever since.

I think I'd head straight for the Lake District to check out the Gawith operations, and play the rest by ear.

You are a lucky man, Chris.

Thanks for playing along.

Well our annual competition and show is held in the Nottingham area, great time of the year to visit as it's early summer, warm, fairly dry but before most of the schools have finished so it's still on the quieter side tourism wise. Nottingham is a good jumping off point for visiting the lakes or even Scotland if you wanted as you are halfway up the country already. You, in fact anyone would be made most welcome, the pipe smoking/making scene is not as big or mainstream as it is in the US but we make up for it with our friendliness and good humour :)

Will it even be safe that far north next summer?

Looks like there will soon be a hostile border / DMZ situation that will put Korea's 38th parallel to shame:

Startin' to wish you'd left The Wallace alone, I bet. (or at least treated him a bit nicer after catching him)

Several hours between Nottingham and the border and those Scots are lazy :P

Plus we have Robin Hood to protect us. :D

Man, that thing makes an unholy mess. I know loggers that would cringe watching that. If all you were doing is clearing land, I guess that thing would work.
Most of the tree farms out my way (northwest US) are cool to look at. A little creepy because they are so "structured" and organized (reminds me of the Borg), but interesting nonetheless.
