No idea about tobaccanists but Lagunitas Brewing is located there and they are one of the best breweries in the country, IMO.

I may be there late July myself for a C school if all goes well. I seem to remember going to a decent tobacco store in the University Square Mall in Rohnert Park (amout 30 min. from base) when I was in A school about 8 years ago, but it may have just been a Tobacco Patch or similar chain store. What you really want to do is head into San Francisco if you can. If you won't have a car, there is a bus that goes from downtown Petaluma to SF and is relatively cheap, assuming you can find a ride into town.
