Re: Lathe Question
+1 to Steve. I've bought a few hundred blocks from him this year and it's good quality at a low price. The blocks he says are small are about as big as I make a pipe anyways.
Re: Lathe Question
I'll toss my hat in the Steve is awesome pile. I started by buying nothing but mini blocks and they're a great size. When I started getting small blocks I thought they were huge! Thing is, his small blocks are actually quite large.
For starters, try a mini. You'll be surprised how much wood is in there.

Re: Lathe Question
You can buy seasoned cherry and other wood on ebay for pretty good prices and you can get good sizes as well. But I would agree with most, go with briar and with Steve, he's great to deal with and his briar is absolutely gorgeous!

Re: Lathe Question
One more vote for Steve. Great to deal with and I have been able to make 2 pipes from some of his mini blocks.
Anybody can become a woodworker, but only a Craftsmen can hide his mistakes!
