Somehow I missed this (good stuff!)
It must be because Scott is such a loud, overbearing, know-it-all guy who slathers links to his stuff all over the Net.
Not.
Actually, look up "low-key and humble" in the dictionary, and you'll see his photo instead of a text definition.
I found my way to his site by accident when following some lathe links. Color me amazed---it is totally professional and beautifully laid out, and filled to the brim with excellent tutorials. LOTS of illustrative pics. If it is new to you too, here ya go:

He is a great example of a true pipeman. I have had the pleasure of exchanging emails and I can say he has a real passion for our hobby.
He even tolerates sas. That's saying a lot

George, what are you doing poking around lathe sites? Are you getting the itch? You'll have to make a dust mask for Puss.
I thought everybody knew about Scott's site. It is a dandy.
Chas.

Just the leetle ones, mostly to make small hand tools with, and the occasional mutant stem. (Ever heard of Dunhill's Vernon fitment/connector? That sort of thing.)oklahoma red wrote:George, what are you doing poking around lathe sites? Are you getting the itch? You'll have to make a dust mask for Puss.
I wish the Unimat was still being made.
Oh yeah... one of the KC club guys got this yesterday. He isn't sure just what he got into, but if nothing else he'll have one hell of a paperweight.

George works out of his bathroom so as long as a lathe would sit on a piece of plywood over his tub he would be good to go.
I understand he does his best work sitting down.

George,(Ever heard of Dunhill's Vernon fitment/connector? That sort of thing.)
I am familiar with this gadget but I've never owned a Dunhill that had it.
Is there a metal piece on the shank side for the prongs to snap into or do they snap into a fancy cut in the wood?
Do they hold up over the long haul? Perhaps not if you have a need to make replacement pieces.
I don't think they made them for very long did they? Stopped making them like 70 years ago?
