I am assuming Ocelot has a plan that will involve him getting the pipe he wants. I did more work on mine. Rough shaping is done, need to drill tobacco chamber and second air hole, and get my shank inlay done. Will definitely be done in time, but its hard, I have a bunch of orders right now

Deadline is the after the first weekend in Feb. We've got one month guys!

As far as the selection process, as I recall there is a program that randomizes the names. That will ensure no skullduggery. You've got to watch pipemakers. They're an unscrupulous lot.

Now that we're in the final month it is probably a good idea, if you haven't already, to start working. We have a big list this year, but I seem to remember last year a lot of guys backing out for various reasons.

If you feel that you need to back out please let us know ASAP

The last thing anyone wants is to be waiting for a pipe or sending a pipe to someone who isn't participating. No shame in backing out if you have to either. We all understand life's twists and turns. Briar can also be a fickle mistress.

I finished my cavalier last night but I'm thinking if I have time I'll make another I will. This one turned out OK for a first cavalier, but the briar was a bit pitty and I think I could do better if I tried again.

I hope this new year brings everyone love, joy, peace, and lots of pipes and tobacco. Happy puffing!

I made my first cavalier for my grandfather this Christmas, and it turned out well. I learned a few things along the way as well. I am excited to start on the one I will turn in, as it will turn out better than the last, and the last was quite good for a first.

Sorry guys, I'm out. Buried with my day job.... Maybe next year.
Not sure I want my hobby to turn into my job largely because I grow to hate my job....

The problem is that I'll probably squeeze in enough shoptime to get it finished, but there's still a reasonable chance that I'll do something stupid like sand into the bowl so that I can toss this one away. I won't have time to start a new one :-p

Got some time in the shop today and managed to drill the airway & chamber. Still have to connect them though. The grain is looking really nice, and the olivewood stand I'm turning for it is looking nice as well. I did manage to hit the shank while turning the bowl though, so the shank will have an extension aswell :-D

I really like that one Ocelot. Looks good. I really don't care if there are a few small pits on a pipe.

I had no clue Gershom was just the screen name for Michael Parks! However, disqualified! Looks more like a blowfish to me.

It's all good Rev. I've had five pipe f-up streaks before. It happens.

I have huge plans for the weekend....finally feeling up to putting a bit of time in on a pipe. I have three pipes...four with this one...to finish in the next month. The good news is that two of them are ready for a bit of stem work and stain. I have my PITH drilled and have the stem and plug fitted, but haven't started shaping. Good thing I stay up late..
Am I Calamity Jane or Annie Oakley??...depends on the day.

its just like any pipe, there is no regular size. if yours is tiny, then you made a tine pipe, no problem
