My first pipe !

Post by carthagena »

Hi everybody !

I finally completed my first pipe, this evening. It was initially a kit from Danpipe.de and I shaped it completely with the Dremel and sandpaper.
I have nearly satisfied on the result, even if I have some regrets with the stem : I learned some things that I will not reproduce.

Here's the pipe :

What do you think about it ? I will intent to smoke it in few days...
Thank you,

David.

Aside from the "stem/shank" problem I like it. Nice shape. Let us know how it smokes.

I think that is outstanding for a first pipe. I hope it serves you well and smokes beautifully. I like the bowl shape.

Nice first effort! You'll learn a lot on each pipe you make. Keep up the good work.

Thank you !
The link between the stem and the shank breaks the line of the pipe, I know... but I think I'll change the stem for few time or put some ring.
The next one will be better

Hey David,

Very nice first pipe! Being that it is your creation, I am sure it will smoke exceptionally well. There is just something about making your own pipe that makes them do that.

Congratulations!

Good job. It looks a lot better than the first pipe that I ever made.
Happy Smoking,

Very nice first effort.

A pointer: it looks like you were working on the stem and stummel as two separate pieces. If you will work with the stem in place, you will not run into problems in the stem/shank transition.

Again, well done.

carthagena,
Fine effort and as Tyler said if the stem is on while shaping they will meet as one. Keep it up.

Exactly, I'm working on a second pipe, keeping the stem plugged. The pipe is much more harmonious. I have yet less problems than with the first
I'll post the photograph soon. Thanks for your tips.
