This looks like an interesting place to find some valuable information.
I'm new around here so just to introduce myself first:
I'm an engineer, toolmaker and gunsmith in Tasmania.
In my spare time I shoot, keep bees and hobby farm.
Because my business now bores me I have to find something to keep my interest. I have been smoking pipes since I was around ten and this is when I made my first pipe out of pine. I still have it but it wasn't very good but it worked.
Now looking for something to do, some thirty years on, I decided to have another go at making pipes.
At this stage I have only made six in total including my early attempt. The pipes are for my own use until I reach a standard where I'm happy to sell some. So far I have sold one.
Here is some photos of my latest creation for you to critique so that I may learn from your comments.
