Blasted Billiard and Blasted Danish Rhodesian
Blasted Billiard and Blasted Danish Rhodesian
Thanks for the tremendous help from this community. Slowly improving with each new pipe. On the Rhodesian I just tried my best to copy Rad.

Well... better and better, as you say.
On the bent pipe, it looks like you maybe buffed the button out of "sharp", and overall the stem looks just a little thick, though you got the taper so nice that a guy can hardly complain. On the stummel, I'm not totally sure if the wide taper works on the shank or if the pipe would look better with a more uniform shank radius all the way (or just less of a "swoop" if that's the technical term... ).
But it's a very attractive pipe.
The lovat could probably use a slight thinning of the stem on the saddled in part, or at least a sharpening of the edges - there's a bit of wobble in the shaping there. Button looks better on that pipe.
But those look like pipes to me.

Re: Blasted Billiard and Blasted Danish Rhodesian
Here's my critique...you sold the Rhodie too soon.......YOU JERK! Seriously though, I really love the Rhodesian. You did a great job of bringing out some really nice ring grain. But seriously, Jerk face...thanks for not selling me this pipe. I thought we were close.
The billiard...I like it as well, but from one of the profile pics (the one with the bowl facing to the right) it looks like the face bulges out just a bit. Also, the shank seems to dip just slightly in the middle. Still a great looking pipe, though, and the stem looks to be the perfect length. Nice job on both.

What is it with the pipemakers on this forum? I don't like Rhodesians. I DON'T LIKE RHODESIANS!
So, why do I like this one so damned much? Sheesh!
That is a beautiful pipe, my friend and that cumberland stem is just the icing on the cake.
Now, I love billiards, and I definitely love this one, but dammit, why do I like that Rhodesian so much? Great, now I want a Rhodesian...
Awesome work!

Re: Blasted Billiard and Blasted Danish Rhodesian
i LOVE that danish rhodesian and the billiard ain't too shabby either! well done.
Re: Blasted Billiard and Blasted Danish Rhodesian
I think your blast on the billiard is nice, but I wouldn't hit it quite so hard right before the stem. You want to preserve the shape as much as possible, and that heavy blast made the shank wonky.
Re: Blasted Billiard and Blasted Danish Rhodesian
Thanks guys. I think I need to use a smaller stamping area, it takes up too much room on the bottom of the shank and lips around too far on the sides. I think this is what giving the shank a "wobbly" look where it goes from blasted to smooth and back to blasted.
Thoughts? Thanks everyone for your encouragement!
