I decide I would like a new, smaller pipe (most of mine are over 6" with large stummels.)

any way- It turned out pretty well, I still am "trial and error" with finishes and stains... only experience can help I guess.

The shank/bowl junction looks a little funny to me. Looks like a crease on the top, then a little too much wood as it progresses to the side. May be the picture. Otherwise, nice shape, and nice execution. You'll enjoy that pipe.

Cool pipe. I see what Marks is talking about. The same thing happened to me on a pipe. While my transitions were relativly smooth on the side, because I'd cut the top oif the transition close, it was very flat and inorganic. I find I need to leave more room around the transition to allow for a smoother flow.
