question about nomenclature stamps...

Post by aaron »

So, I asked where to get a stamp, and the answer was definately "Paul with A&M Steel. He is in fact, a very good man. I am anxiously awaiting my stamp to arrive. now... one more stupid question. HOW DO YOU STAMP YOUR PIPES? 8O I realise that we are dealing with an extremely hard wood here, and I am curious as to a good method, so that I may not screw up too many finished stummels.

I thank you for your help (once again)

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

Paul's stamps are very sharp. Just use a good amount of pressure by hand while rocking it very slightly in all directions to make sure everything makes an impression. That should give you a nice clear stamp. You might want to practice a few times on some scrap pieces first.

Hope this helps,

Rad

I am glad someone answered, i was going to use a mallett. I am also a leather worker, and am used to having to hit stamps like that.
also, should i do it before final staining? or on the totally finished product?

Stamp last.

That way there is no stain issues, no wax build up, etc..
