Hello all, I am a younger guy, just 18, and I am very interested in making pipes. I am currently trying to make a working replica of Gandalf's pipe from the Lord of the Rings movies. I am trying to hand make a wooden churchwarden stem that is around 19" long. Any ideas? I need some help! Thanks everybody!

Gandalf Pipe
Re: Gandalf Pipe
I don't know too much about the subject, but it interests me. I believe you need to steam the stem after you carve it in order to bend it.....
Re: Gandalf Pipe
I've done some research on bending the stem and I know how to do that. The main thing that I'm curious about is how to drill that long of a hole straight?

Look at the third post down. Todd Johnson gives really good instructions on an easy way to do it. It just takes a little investment in drill bits. This is the method I'm going to try when I decide to do a churchwarden.....
