Materials for tenon repair

Post by Michl »

I need to repair a tenon and was planning to use
delrin since that seems to be the standard. But
I am wondering if I could use acrylic/lucite. The
stem is acrylic and I'm planning to make a tenon
with 1.5 or 2mm walls to accomodate a filter.

Thanks!

I dunno, Delrin just doesn't seem right for a filter pipe. You'd need a pretty large diameter rod of Delrin and then you'd remove a lot of material for the filter and the tenon walls will get rather thin compared to the bore and OD. Delrin just seems a little too squishy for the application. I would think you'd want something more rigid in this case.
