Brandy New Server!

Post by KurtHuhn »

As the subject says, we're now running on a brand new server. If you notice anything odd or strange, please email me right away. Hopefully I did my job well, and nothing bad will happen. :)

I'm noticing several odd and strange things, but they're just the forum members, so I don't know that it's a problem :D

All I'm noticing so far is that it's about a million times faster! Thanks, Kurt!

Thanks for noticing! Any IT guys in the audience will both cringe at, and applaud what I've done here. If you're interested, PM me and I'll fill you in on the details. The short of it is, I decided to get myself a business class Internet service here at home, and move my server here. I also put the sites on a server with a ton more RAM and much faster processor.

I'm currently in the process of resurrecting one of the best firewalls I've ever used - which will definitely keep the bad guys out.

Looks good now after the format tweaking! And I like all the little extras and improvements. I just miss the pipe sketch banner.

I do intend to get that up again after I decode the CSS for this style theme. The other thingy is a 5-minute job that I put in place of the default phpbb banner.

Eventually, I might even replace the grey with varying shades of brown like the old software.
