Horn/Oliphant drilling question
Horn/Oliphant drilling question
I was wondering what the consensus is on where to make the draught hole meet the tobacco chamber in a shallow-curved horn or oliphant. Since the chamber is almost 'lying flat' I'm curious as to whether the draught hole should be in the center-bottom or if it should meet the bottom 'wall' of the chamber where the curve starts.....ugh, I hope that makes at least a little sense.....thanks!
i have been thinking the same thing, i think (don´t exactly know) that when the draught hole meets the chamber on the center of the tobacco chamber,
it´s basically the same thing as if a straight pipes chamber was drilled
ttoo deep...
i drill my pipes with U
shaped bit, i have been thinking if i should get
a sharper pointed drilling bit for drilling horns...

Most guys drill tapered bowls with a tapered drill bit. They use a Spade or Spoon or Silver & Deming bit ground to a taper. I doubt you'll find an off-the-shelf bit that shape, so grind it yourself or have a pro do it.daniel wrote:i drill my pipes with U
