Stanwell Prestige line?

Anyone heard of a Stanny line called Prestige? What I am looking at is a monster-size freehand, a big ole Danish egg, marked Stanwell, with a tiny little reg'n number under that, a B, and Prestige.

I assume it's a factory second sort of thing, like the Danish Sovereign line? A Queen that didn't quite make it?

It's drilled good, seems solid. Grain is not real outstanding on some parts.

Will post a pic tomorrow, but would appreciate any thoughts if anyone has heard of this line. I think it probably dates from the late 60s or early 70s but I can't find any hard info.

If it's marked Stanwell, it's not a factory second. The registered number stamping on Stanwells was discontinued in the late 60s/ early 70s. Also, if the Stanwell stamp is taller on the ends and shortest in the center, it is further indication that the pipe is at least 35 years old. 'Prestige' was one of their product lines - like Dunhill has shell, root briar, bruyere, etc.

So it's a pretty old pipe.... been smoked a million times, but the thing looks brand new on the outside. Someone took good care of it. I am cleaning, reaming, making a new stem, and then I'll have a wicked old freehand.

I've been using servimg.com for photo hosting, but apparently there have been some nasty malware sorta things there recently, so I'm not so sure I want to go back....

I use Photobucket - never had a problem.

I'm gonna get an account at one or both of those. Besides, it's really just not fair to you guys to not get to see my new pipes as they are coming along.

I actually have an actual, real digital camera at my disposal now too. The world is mine! MINE I TELL YOU!!!!

That pipe is around 7" long, 2.5" tall bowl. Smokes like a charm.
