Well, I was finally able to read the grain on a block to get exactly the result I wanted. Too bad this pipe is just a hair wide for the P&T contest as I would have loved to enter it :cry:

Update: I have measured the pipe with my neighbors calipers rather than by eye and the pipe does BARELY pass muster on the width! :D

Quite nice! What's that stain you used on it? Is that one of the leather dyes?

It is indeed the leather stains. It is a first coat of Medium brown with Buckskin on top.

sweet pipe! I like the way you did the stem. Also got some nice birdseye on the bottom.
