Slot Shapes

Post by d6monk »

Hey everyone.

I was reading through Neill's blog, specifically the mouthpiece study at http://web.mac.com/neillarcherroan/A_Pa ... t_One.html and had a few questions I was hoping you guys could answer. I noticed on the table he has a section called 'orifice shape' with entries like slot, wide slot, flared slot, and trumpet flare. I was wondering what these shapes were. For the two pipes I have done the slot shape has been basically just a V about an inch deep into the stem. What shapes do you guys use and how deep do you make them?

Thanks.
