One for the Medicine Man

Post by kkendall »

This is my first real commissioned pipe (for someone I don't personally know). I've made a couple others, but they were for friends.

It's not a run-o-the-mill style, but this was HIS baby.

kkendall, that is one beautiful pipe! Amazing Job.

If you don't mind me asking how did you do the drilling on the stem? I've often wondered how to drill the whole right at the bit on a semi translucent Lucite stem. It appears that you didn't V slot it. What size bit did you use to get a good draw and is this a common practice with lucite?

Thanks and once again great pipe!

Thx.

It's a preformed stem. It actually does have a small flare at the end. I did open the hole all the way out to the end with a tapered bit.

Beautiful Pipe, just a question on the turqoise inlay, how do you find the epoxy holds up to the heat?, assuming you're using epoxy?
Thanks

It's a material called Inlace. So far, it looks like it isn't really effected by heat.
