A wiki is born....

Post by KurtHuhn »

I've spent quite a bit of time getting a wiki setup and mostly configured today. I have some tweaking to do, and some configurations to make, but it's mostly done.

Just figured I would teast y'all a little before actually moving it in to the website.

Kurt, I am really looking forward to that wiki. I use several wikis (including the original) on a regular basis, but never really participated in the circle of editors.
Thought about the user right suggestions for the wiki I posted here?
And I would like to suggest to supply some links to ressources explaining the wiki principle and mechanisms to all our users. Most of them may not be too familiar with that (remember that wookie thread), and it would be a good idea to give them some guide lines, so that as many as members as possible can contribute.

Hi All

Please do explain, for those of us that are ignorant about wikis.
All the best,

Maybe this introductionary pages from the (afaik) mother of wikis, the wikipedia project itself might help. I believe the system of that global online encyclopedia may be a little more sophisticated, but the principle (everyone who applied for being and became and editor can write new and/or edit content) and the rules and options will be about the same.
Surely Kurt will supply some in depth info for our wiki, but in the meantime…

An interactive tutorial for wikipedia is here.

An ancyclopedic article about wikipedia taken from the wikipedia system is here.

And wikipeadia's own »about« files are here.

It's live and ready! The wiki for the pipe makers forum is happening!

At least for now, it is being handled as a sub-section of: http://pipedia.org/

Here is the direct link: http://pipedia.org/index.php?title=Pipe_Making

You can also see the following subject here:

Please check it out, and feel free to dive in if so moved!
