A painfull announcement

Post by KurtHuhn »

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my nephew, Anthony Ámerico Gemma, on the 15th of December, 2006. He was 17 years old, due to turn 18 in three weeks. He is survived by an entire host of friends and family who will keep him in their hearts until the end of time.

He was leaving work, on his way to a friends house, when his car was broadsided by a woman under the influence of both marijuana and alcohol. He was dead at the scene, and pronounced at the hospital after a cursory trauma eval. He was missing the back of his head. Another life cut short due to extreme irresponsibility.

I will not sleep this night.

I'm sorry guys. Everything in the works for this site is now on indefinite hold. I'll let you all know when I've made progress on something.

Wow Kurt, I'm very sorry to hear about your nephew, Anthony. This is a terrible tragedy. Tonight on my way back from a gig I passed through a sobriaty check point. It was really great to see that. I thought at the time that it could save a life.... Now reading this, I'm sorry that it was not Anthony that was spared by having the women who killed him stoped in time. I wish they could do more of those check points.

A student at the university where I work spent Wednesday night in jail after a DUI. Thankfully there was no accident. I hope it sinks in and she rethinks getting behind the wheel next time. Hopefully she won't have to spend the rest of her life knowing she killed someone through a stupid selfish act like the women who killed your nephew.

I can't think of a more difficult thing than loosing a son, or a nephew that way. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and the rest of your family, Kurt.
