I never knew it is or was necessary for a pipemaker to have a beatiful singing voice. Allthough we did not yet meet for a big choir singing out loud the anthem they might deserve, I think there has been some ballad here and there that tells the story…
Maybe one day we'll all line up in front of their houses, though. And our voices will ring out loud and clear from the snowy mountain tops down to the rolling sea.

haha alex what an image that brought to my head...a bunch of bearded guys with resperatory problems holding hands singing our praises while the neigbourhood dogs chime in with a howl

Yeah, sort of. As I said loud and clear. Rather loud, maybe less clear. Uhm, maybe more that fog horn kind of loud and clear…

Holding our hands? No hand free and all clenching their favourite pipe? That would make a fine growling, mumbling sound to harmonize with the howling dogs. But at least clenching a pipe might compensate possible issues with our abilities to sing those long notes due to the respiratory problems Love mentioned.
But please take me out of that line-up. I will be there to set up some recording equipment to preserve that unique audio sample for the next generations…
Someone playing any instrument to step in? Any composers around? Satellite transmitter bandwidth already booked for worldwide broadcast?

Actually I used to rap in my teens and recorded a few demo albums mabey I could trow in a rime or 2

I don't know, which contemporary style all those guys over there on the other side of the atlantic might prefer. Me being European, 39 yo and socialised with other music, I feel sort of uncomfortable with idea that the the "pipesmoker's mass" could be a rap. Maybe that is my oldschoolness. Dunno.
Asked from the old side of the globe: Should it be a intercultural, multistyle world music type of thing to reflect our multitude? Rather some innovative contemporary composition? Or an easy sing-along tune that still can be remembered after consumption of considerable amounts of accompaigning liquids in a round of pipesmoking friends? A heroic anthem that makes us stand up everytime another pipesmoker whistles the tune?
