burl wood
burl wood
has anybody used.. ambonya ..afzelia..or chechen woods for a pipe ? i really like these three woods but dont know if they might be toxic or bad woods to use from cracking....your help and input would very much be appreciated......THANKS...BUGSY :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:
They are great for inlays! Most burls are loaded with pits, cracks, bark etc, so even if they weren't toxic(although I don't know if they are) you'd probably end up with a pipe that would burn out or just plain burn! 8O
Another thing to be careful of. Sometimes these woods are sold stabilized, a process that forces resin into the wood to keep it from cracking. And the result would be toxic.
