Hey all, here is a Gratuitously Fat and Stumpy Poker Variant I just finished up... It has some pretty decent grain to it.

Height = 2 1/4"
Length = 5 1/2"
Weight = 2.2oz (62.36 gr)
Chamber Dia. = 3/4"
Boxwood Shank Cap

That's a great looking pipe, John. I love the boxwood. I went looking for boxwood a little while ago and couldn't find any. Did you find it online? I want to try a shank extension on my next pipe (probably a ways off since I am in Puerto Rico again on business), but I think I'll stick to just trying to drill the right size mortise this time. Love the contrast you are getting on your staining too!

And Rad, if I had been around the computer when Neil posted that to MPL, I would have cheated too. But when you're on the road, you don't get to things in time.

Wow, Beautiful pipe John!

I love the whole thing. Great grain, and your stain and polish brings it out really well. That's a wonderful and unique shape, but rings somehwhat traditional too. I especailly like your treatment on the lips at each corner. Oh, and I love the boxwood shank cap and it works great with the shank and the stem.

Hey, I've been looking for boxwood too, any hints? Cheez, the stuff used to grow on trees!

I got my boxwood through a trade for some taper drill bits with this quirky pipemaker in Sweden. Apparently the guy used to work out of a circus wagon. Go figure

No doubt! Legal elephant ivory is easier to find than boxwood these days....

I got some really nice pieces from them but the $100 minimum order was tough to swallow at first but now that I actually have the wood I'm glad I made the purchase. As much of the stuff I use it's worth it.

Really nice pipe John... as always your style is there to see.

Thanks Dave, one of the things I was most pleased with was that I was able to do a very different shape and still retain a "Crosby" look to it.

Dave, I was on that web site last week and was going to call them up to see if they had any more boxwood. Plus, I saw that they have Spanish Briar also. Not sure how much the briar will cost but it dosen't hurt to find out.

Oh and John, Awesome pipe man. :thumb:
