Real name: Colin

Years a pipe smoker: 18-19? Premal sold me my first pipe sometime around freshman or sophomore year of college, 2000 or 2001.
How you got into pipe making: I want more pipes, I'm not in a position to buy all the amazing artisan carved ones I admire, and I have no interest in cobs, so I'll just make my own.
Other interesting facts: I brew beer professionally, folks tend to think that's neat.

Colin,
Welcome. I completely understand your motivation for making pipes but I have to warn you, it can be an expensive "hobby". If I had just invested the money I've spent on pipe making on my collection I could have some real high end artesian on pipes by now, LOL. I don't mean to discourage you in the least, just an observation. I'd say if I had to do it all over again I may change how I started out but I wouldn't change my decision to start carving pipes, it has been a weird and wonderful journey and maybe I'll get to the point one day that it is a break even hobby. Best of luck to you!
