Lines across your screen?

Post by Growley »

Lately, as I've been perusing this wonderful forum, I've come across lines that go horizontally across my screen. They seem to show up randomly and in large numbers, to the point where I can't see the content very well. I've only seen it happen on this forum and wonder if anyone else is seeing it?

Any idea what it would be from?

Brian.

Ok, to prove I'm not crazy, here's a screen shot. ...and it's only on this forum that I see this.

Looks like your browser is confused about the rendering, or perhaps your video subsystem is slightly borked. Either way, it appears to be contained to your computer. Either way, it looks like your computer needs kick in the tenders.

Or as Rad would say:
Fdisk, format, reinstall.

Hope that helps.

Growley: I get that on YouTube some times (viewing with Firefox) but it's only one and on the screen for a split second, then fixes itself. It happens if I try to scroll while a video is running.

Apple is all I own. This is happening on my MacBook Pro  I'll never own a PC again. I'm a die hard fan.

I used to have a problem with big lines on my mirrors. Typically I could solve the problem with a straw or rolled up dollar bill.
Have you tried snorting the lines off your screen ?
Hope this helps

This recently started happening to me as well on my PC at work and at home using Chrome so I did a little digging and found out how to fix it.

Type "chrome://flags" into the address bar and hit enter. Click "Enable" under "Composited render layer borders." Restart Chrome, pull up the forum, and the lines should be gone!

Worked like a charm on both my work and home computers.

That's great, will try. Although I didn't have the issue when this was first noticed, I started having it about two weeks back!

Hmm, didn't work. And on some sites, it put a grid over the entire page!

Bizarre!

Whoa! How totally strange. I'm on a different computer at work today and the lines mysteriously weren't there without changing any settings. Weird!

Just a quick question, how does that prove you're not crazy? Would need, at least, a Psychiatrist's affidavit for that.

Sorry, couldn't resist.
