My Pipe Rack

We all make stuff other than pipes, so here's a place where "anything goes" as far as showing off some of your projects and other hobbies.

My Pipe Rack

Post by Duane »

I wanted to build a pipe rack, so I went online to find something to copy, but there was nothing out there that impressed me. But as I was thinking this guy's name came to mind, Rene Magritte. He was a surrealist and came out with his "The Treachery of Images" in 1928-29, which was a picture of a pipe:

The Rene Magritte
translation is "This is not a pipe".....which was true....it was only a picture of a pipe...thus the "The Treachery of Images"!
======
Then, I remembered later that Joseph Cornell (another surrealist, died in 1972) came out with his "shadowbox art" of "This Is A Pipe" !

Of course it was a bubble pipe, but he made his point (things are real, but it's all just a joke...my interpretation...heehee!) and "topped" Rene's understanding of things.
=====
So, I put the two together, and not to be out done, I "topped" both of them....and got a great pipe rack out of it too"

"CELLES-CI NE SONT PAS DES PIPES" Translated: "These are not pipes!"....heehee! (That's a bit deep, but you probably understand it.)
AND...it's a Great pipe rack too, because I like to store my pipes apart so they can dry better, with an exception or two, and this way I know what part belongs where! :)
