Tobacco press - to flake or not to flake

We all make stuff other than pipes, so here's a place where "anything goes" as far as showing off some of your projects and other hobbies.

Tobacco press - to flake or not to flake

Post by kbadkar »

I made this press a couple months ago. The base and press block are red oak, the sides are curly maple. There is an "access door" for easy plug removal. The cured tobacco plant in the background was the first experimental victim. Later, I will post results in the Tobacco Processing section.

I finished the wood with food-grade cutting board oil, except the inside of the press. I didn't want to taint the baccy with any unwanted flavors.
