Hello, New guy.

Post by HMalant »

Hey everyone, I found this is the intro part of the forum. The names Steve, and I've been doing miscellaneous wood working/prop artistry for about 12ish years now and I've recently taken up pipe making. Unfortunately I'm one of those lost causes who doesn't really enjoy making standard pipes, and am more comfortable in the likes of Maigurs Knets, Alex Florov, Art Nouveau, etc. etc. Take this how you will :P

Either way I hope I can learn a lot from all of you! I'll be posting a couple pics of the pipe I consider the best I've made so far (Read fith pipe)

Thanks,
Steve

Welcome, Steve! I really like those guys' pipes too. For someone starting out, making a few billiards for critique is the best way to learn. It's hard to critique a freehand creation. In the last year, I've had to put my creativity on the back burner a lot and make standard shapes so I can compare them to the work of others and get critique. Also, since I prefer to smoke standard shapes, making them means that when I mess up, I have a pipe I'm likely to smoke. :-)

Looking forward to seeing what you put out!
