New member from France

Post by rijks »

Hello guys, as I said in the title I'm a new member on the forum. I'm a 36 years old french boy and live near La rochelle (west coast). I began to smoke pipe at the age of 20 but I really enjoy it a few months ago... because a french forum give me the instructions for a better smoking. For the moment, I don't have many briars and just smoke few tobaccos but I hope to buy other and other one ;) I like bee, hawkbill and calabash... rounded shape, and pretty strong tobacco (brown, with latakia...) but my taste are continually evolve. Sorry for my english, I try to do my best. The making of pipes is my new interest and like to learn more and more about it.
Best regards,
Patrick Rijks

Thanks for all guys, yes I have a lot to learn. I began to read a lot on the forum but I don't find something I really need to understand : a diagram or something like that to see how it works exactly... to begin, the english name of the pieces, I have a diagram but not enough specific. Where the air chamber stop, the diameter of the mortise,... If you have this, I'll take it !

Yes, I have a similar one. But this is more detailed. What I search is the shape with the details (length, diameter, ...) of each pipe. Maybe it does not exist ;)

Thanks and best regards,

I do not believe there exists a valeur - étalon, a set standard with recommended dimensions for each shape. :)
