I typically wouldn't dream of sandblasting olive wood because is so stinking pretty and I've never had a flaw in one. However, this particular block was very bland in the way of grain/color with only a very little color on the top near the chamber. So, I sandblasted it, and man am I glad I did. I'm really happy with how it came out.

It turned out nice. I blasted an olive pipe and with a nice oil finish, the color is still visible even when the grain is interesting.

Very nice. I have never cared for the smooth olive woods, but I really like this!

That came out very nice. I think this is the first blasted olive wood I've seen. Normally I'd agree with you I love the look/grain of olive but if it just isn't there time for plan 'B'. How does it feel in the hand, what is the texture like?

Dirk Claessen for example has been making some for a while. I agree that it's a very nice plan B.

It's a little grittier feeling than blasted briar, but all in all, not uncomfortable.
