First attempt at an author shape

Post by danielcsan9592 »

Attempting my first "author" shape, patterned after the Savinelli 320. Thoughts on where to go from here with the bowl/shank?

Difficult to say from that photo, but it looks as if you still have a lot of wood left on the backside of the bowl.
Rule of thumb in most cases is that the back and front should mimic each other, when seen from the side.

It really looks as though the pipe is a bit too straight. I know the 320 isn't bent as far as the old Dunhills, but your's looks almost like a straight pipe. And that may just be the angle in the picture.
Am I Calamity Jane or Annie Oakley??...depends on the day.
