A must-read for all pipemakers who sell their work

Post by LatakiaLover »

Stick with it, too. There's a surprise near the end.

(If you are a hobbyist, the thread won't be useful to you, just entertaining.)

See, next time you want to blast a pipe, stamp a few asterisks on it and sell it for 10x as much as you usually would.

Double surprise: Then, after I started this thread here on Tyler's board, it un-sold as if by magic. (I think Adam D. or Sykes might be having a bit of fun)

And here I thought you guys would be all over the Apparent Magic of Grading Levels issue...

Not as surprising in this case as I thought ($1500 for a badly cut Savinelli?) because apparently the pipe DIDN'T sell after all (whether a Sykes joke or not, we'll probably never know), but still relevant.

Maybe grade levels matter only after a carver is famous AND in demand?

from the context it was hard to tell that it sold during the conversation. Its mind boggling to me. I would guess someone was tipped off to the unusual amount of activity and either pulled it down to stop the chatter, or more likely pulled it as a joke.
