YeeeHaaaw!!! Walls!

Post by DocAitch »

At the time of my resumption of pipe making 2 years ago, I moved my baby lathe and new drill press into my carport because that was the only available space. Tarps hung over the side kept things reasonably dry, but provided only some partial protection from wind and no insulation from the cold . Temperatures have fallen into the teens frequently during the two winters that I worked in this environment.

Not up to another winter in my "tent", I have spent the last couple of weeks putting up some walls. I have foam board insulation up on the back and sides and am hoping to close up the front this week end. Its already warmer with the wind not able to blow all the way through.
Image
This is my main side, the new (to me) lathe goes on the right side when I get a pad poured- the present floor is about 1 1/2" asphalt, and won't hold the weight.

I will also be putting in 60 feet of shelving to put my stuff in order.

What can I say?
I am not a neat guy and I have a lot of stuff laying all over the place while I am getting this job done. That 60’ of shelving is going to help a lot.
I will post photos after the clean up.

Real men build their shop in their living room.

And real wives smack’em upside the head when they talk like that.

Only took me 5
I do have a habit of keeping the current projects and any hand tools I'll need that day on the butler pantry, which makes her crazy.
She doesn't care about my corner of the garage though.
