Wow! Why is it that the prices over there are so cheap! Something like that over here would probably cost in the region of $30!

If you use the bench grinder to sharpen, wouldn't you have to get new bits every month or so?

Thanks for the advice, Frank! I tend to forget that the world is getting smaller because of the net. Good example is this that I'm doing at the moment! And jeez, Elie's pipes REALLY are work of art, hey! Beautifull! A friendly neighbour of mine took some of my pipes to a local tobacconist chai...

Still waiting for some critique on the pipes though, if you can excuse the poor quality of the photos... Have other photos with different views as we...

Diamond hones should work quite well, yes. Just a shame they're so expensive here. I think I'll try with the stone for a start.

Thanks!

Sharpening of spade bits?

How do you guys sharpen spade bits?

With files or maybe a sharpening stone?

I've tried with files, but it doesn't seem to get as sharp as I would like it to be.

Like them both, the bent more, though. What's the extension made from? Look oak-ish?

The stain is especially nice, yes!

Some of the others

So, you've been bitten by the bug, live on the other side of the Pipemaking World and don't have the cash for a new order of materials from over there (seems like shipping, duties etc. amounts to about 80% of material costs!). And all you want to do is make pipes! What do you do? You buy dirt cheap ...
